Illegal Dance takes place within a totalitarian society where dance and artistic expression are crimes. Movement becomes a black market commodity and sub-cultures thrive in this Orwellian dystopia. It’s a world where artistic freedom of expression has been replaced with cold conformity.

The company employ contemporary and hip-hop styles in this technically advanced multi-media production, which challenges theatrical dance conventions and asks people whether they are willing to conform or rebel. The show includes contributions from digital artist Nic Sandiland and narration from award winning poet and performer Inua Ellams. It also integrates the highest level of youth dance practice with apprentice dancers performing alongside the professional performers
